Municipal library

The public library is:

• An open and free service for citizens.
• For all ages.
• In-person and online access to information, knowledge and leisure.
• A community, offering services according to the needs of users through active listening.
• An opportunity for the improvement of social relations, cultural diversity, participation, interculturalism, creation and personal development.
• Information and local memory.
• Support for reading and writing, education and the development of a critical spirit.
• An active part of the Basque Library Network.

Freedom, prosperity and the development of society and individuals are fundamental human values. These values can only be achieved through the ability of well-informed citizens to exercise their democratic rights and play an active role in society. Constructive participation and the consolidation of democracy depend both on satisfactory education and on free and unfettered access to knowledge, thought, culture and information. (UNESCO, 2022)
